Funding for your Summer Research Experience

International Funding

U-RISE Scholars are required to spend at least one summer in a research training experience away from Â鶹´«Ã½. Preferred sites are research intensive graduate institutions such as those with NIH T32 training programs or other research intensive institutions as approved by Dr. Holder. Funds for the summer research experience will be provided as follows: $3,000 per U-RISE Scholar, to be used in accordance with institutional policies as a per diem (to help cover the costs of room and board) for a period of ten weeks; an additional $500 for travel to and from the host research training site. The U-RISE scholar will continue to receive his/her usual, U-RISE stipend throughout the summer.

In summary, an U-RISE Scholar who participates in an external summer research experience can receive the following:

  1. $3,000 (this should cover both per diem and housing)
  2. $500 for travel
  3. Monthly stipend from Â鶹´«Ã½ U-RISE grant
