Bob Rudman, Chair
Mr. Rudman has been a member of the Advisory board since 2018. At that time Mr. Rudman was Dollar Tree, Inc's Chief Global Products Officer. He previously served as the Chief Merchandising Officer of Dollar Tree from June 2003 to March 2017. Prior to joining Dollar Tree, he served as President/CEO and minority shareholder of Horizon Group USA from 2000 to June 2003. From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Rudman was President/CEO of his own consulting company, VQ International Inc. From 1991 until 1996, Mr. Rudman was Executive Vice President/Chief Merchandise Officer of Michaels Stores. Prior to joining Michaels, Mr. Rudman served in a number of positions in a wide variety of retail formats, gaining the majority of his experience in merchandise and marketing.
Mr. Rudman retired from his position at Dollar Tree, Inc. effective June 2019. Since then, he has set up a consulting LLC and volunteers on many fronts including the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center and individuals with needs. He enjoys his retirement spending time with his wife and their family.
Nancy Jallo
Dr. Nancy Jallo, serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Health Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has extensive experience in perinatal and women's healthcare and have practiced in a variety of settings, ranging from in-patient hospital settings, ambulatory care clinics, to case management in the United States and Europe. As a practicing clinical nurse specialist as well as family and women's health nurse practitioner, she is familiar with the challenging stressors and symptoms experienced by families. She believe that nursing has a tremendous role in delivering quality care and advancing the health and well-being of families. She teaches primarily in the undergraduate and graduate masters-level programs. She also serve as a doctoral student advisor.
Jennifer McKendree
Jennifer McKendree is passionate about students and facilitating authentic learning opportunities both locally and globally to discover ways in creating positive impact. She is an active member of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Global Health Center Advisory Board, the Kempsville High School Entrepreneurship and Business Academy Advisory Board and Co-chair of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools Gifted Advisory Committee. Jennifer has sixteen years of public-school experience as a middle school gifted science teacher and school administrator, leading the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. For six years, she led the Student Programs department of Operation Smile, a non-profit that provides free surgeries to children around the world born with cleft lips and palates. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Longwood University and Gifted Endorsement and Masters in Leadership and Administration from The University of Virginia. She also worked as a consultant with WAGiLabs, focused on elementary and after-school programs, facilitating social innovation incubators for kids' ideas, and helping to write the Kidpreneur Playbook. She recently made the decision to pause her professional career and focus full time on raising her amazing daughter Cooper Lynn. Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors on the water, bird watching and traveling.
Shelley Mishoe
Dr. Shelley Mishoe has enjoyed working in many arenas of healthcare and higher education starting with teaching respiratory therapy as a new college grad from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY and moving into a department chair position soon after earning her graduate degree. She earned a master's degree in Education with a minor in Health Services Administration from August University and a PhD in Adult Education from the University of Georgia. Dr. Mishoe is a Fellow of the following professional organizations: Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions, American Association for Respiratory Care, and the American Council of Education. She has been teaching for more that 25 years and has held executive administrative positions as Associate Provost, Dean and Chair at Augusta University (formerly the Medical College of Georgia). She has also served as the Dean of the College of Health Sciences from 2011-2017. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Â鶹´«Ã½'s Center for Global Health, Bon Secours Health System, Physicians for Peach, The Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions and the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. Dr. Mishoe has a long interest in global health and has traveled professionally and personally across the world.
Nancy Welch
Dr. Nancy Welch has served as the Public Health Director in Virginia since 1976. Currently, she is the Director of the Chesapeake Health Department. Her major professional focus is utilizing data analysis as a persuasive motivator for individuals and communities to actively engage in the healthier lifestyle habits. She received her B.S. degree at Lynchburg College, her medical degree at Duke University, and her M.B.A. At Â鶹´«Ã½. She completed her residency and Master of Health Administration at the University of Colorado. She is board certified in both pediatrics and public health/preventive medicine. Dr. Welch is a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and she has received numerous awards of distinction. She is a member of the Delta Omega Society, Alpha Kappa Chapter, the Delta Kappa Gamma as well as the Omega Chapter. She was awarded the Hampton Roads YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Medicine in 2012 and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Marian P. Whitehurst Women in Leadership Award in 2013. She was conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctorate in Science from Lynchburg College in 2014.
