Open access and scholarly communication are two topics that many researchers hear about these days. With the soaring cost of traditional journals, coupled with the unknown reputation of many online publishers, researchers may have trouble navigating the waters of open access. Â鶹´«Ã½ Libraries is here to help, with discussions and events all semester long to ensure that you are well informed about all aspects of publishing in this brave new world.
Â鶹´«Ã½ Libraries, along with the Â鶹´«Ã½ Office of Research and Center for Faculty Development, will be celebrating Open Access Week October 22-26, with events designed to introduce you to the concepts of open access. All events will take place in Perry Library.

Dr. Wayne Hynes (Provost Fellow), Dr. Mona Danner and Librarian Corrie Marsh will lead a discussion on predatory publishers and conferences to inform researchers what criteria and tools to use in order to preserve research integrity and conform to funders' requirements. Many funding agencies require a data management plan (DMP) as part of the grant proposal submission process. Librarian Karen Vaughan will introduce the DMPTool which provides a click-through wizard for creating a DMP that complies with funder requirements. Bring your lunch; refreshments provided.
