Established in 1953, the Technical Standards Board Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes individuals for outstanding service in the technical committee activities of SAE International. This includes valuable contributions to the work of SAE International technical committees, unusual leadership in the activities of an SAE International technical committee, significant contributions as a representative of SAE International to the accomplishments of technical committees of other organizations or of government agencies, and outstanding contributions to SAE International technical committee work in the form of research, test methods and procedures, and/or development of standards.
Dr. Landman is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Â鶹´«Ã½. He served as Chief Engineer at the Langley Full-Scale Tunnel from August 1996 - October 2009. He earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University and received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Â鶹´«Ã½ in 1998.
Dr. Landman teaches graduate level classes in experimental aerodynamics, Flight Vehicle Aerodynamics, Ground Vehicle Aerodynamics, Design of Experiments, and Response Surface Methods. He is a past member of the AIAA Ground Testing Technical Committee and supervises doctoral and master's students on primarily US Air Force, US Navy and NASA sponsored research programs. As manager of the LFST, Dr. Landman was responsible for designing and supervising wind tunnel tests on a variety of test articles including aerospace and ground vehicles. He was instrumental in developing a heavy truck testing capability at the LFST and participated in Department of Energy supported research with Solus Inc. Consulting activities include short course education in DOE and RSM as applied to aerospace testing.
