The minor in aerospace engineering is open to all students except for those majoring in mechanical engineering with a concentration in aerospace engineering. All prerequisites and corequisites must be satisfied for all courses taken.
This interdisciplinary minor is for students who would like to learn about processes encountered in biomedical engineering and enhance their ability to integrate knowledge from different disciplines with principles used in biomedical engineering. The minor offers an opportunity for students to be recognized for study in this growing multidisciplinary field and to enhance competitiveness for job opportunities upon graduation.
An undergraduate Minor degree in Civil Engineering can be obtained by students from outside the Civil and Environmental Engineering department by successful completion of a minimum of 12 credit hours (= 4 courses) in approved Civil Engineering coursework at the 300 or 400 level, at least one of which must be at the 400 level.
The minor in Civil Engineering Technology (Construction) is open to all students (except civil engineering technology majors). The program consists of 12 credits, and the specified courses are as follows: Sustainable Building Practices (CET 355), Construction Planning and Scheduling (CET 445), Construction Cost Estimating (CET 460), and Construction Project Management (CET 465). These courses are offered both on campus and through distance learning.
The computer engineering program is designed to provide a broad engineering background and a comprehensive foundation in the technical principles underlying the computer area. The technical core consists of coursework from electrical engineering to address hardware aspects of computer engineering and coursework from computer science to address software aspects.
The electrical engineering program provides a solid foundation in networks, linear systems, electronics, electromagnetics, digital systems, and physical electronics. Emphasis is placed on understanding principles through theoretical investigation and experimental verification. Learn device fabrication processes (photolithography, oxidation, diffusion, metallization) and fabricate your own circuits in the clean room.
The minor in electrical engineering technology is open to students (except electrical engineering technology majors) who have completed at least one three-credit course in calculus. It is particularly helpful for those who are preparing for the Fundamentals of Engineering examination.
This program provides undergraduate students with a set of courses that provides some of the basic management concepts useful to those aspiring to an executive/administrative management position in technology-based, project-oriented organizations. Upon graduation, this knowledge will help individuals qualify for project management positions or for entrepreneurial activities. Students interested in obtaining a strong preparation in engineering management should consider this minor.
An undergraduate Minor degree in Environmental Engineering can be obtained by Civil Engineering major students or students from outside the Civil and Environmental Engineering department. Various Environmental Engineering courses are available in Environmental Engineering minor program that allow pursuit of several areas of study or specialization within Environmental Engineering -- water quality, water and wastewater treatment, hazardous wastes, air quality, sustainable development, and energy engineering.
The Marine Engineering minor is multidisciplinary and consists of four courses in topics that are relevant to the shipbuilding, maintenance, report and maritime operations industries. This minor is open to all students with the exception of those students in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program’s Marine Engineering option.
A minor in mechanical engineering can be obtained after successfully completing no less than 12 credit hours in specific 300/400 level courses. There are two program emphases: thermal sciences or mechanics. This minor is open to all except students majoring in mechanical engineering.
The minor in mechanical engineering technology is open to students (except mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering technology majors) who have completed at least one three-credit course in calculus. It is particularly helpful for those who are preparing for the Fundamentals of Engineering examination. The program consists of 12 credits of specified courses.
The minor in military leadership is a high quality, interdisciplinary, multidimensional, experiential, and culturally diverse program that exposes students to, and prepares them for, real life leadership opportunities and challenges. A foundation of naval science is established including naval history, shipboard navigation, naval operations, ship systems, evolution of warfare, and maneuvering warfare. Students explore issues of leadership, citizenship, and social change within the context of an inquiry, experiential, and competency-based instructional design.
This minor is a good fit for those who are majoring in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering at Â鶹´«Ã½. Students will learn how to formally model complex systems and then to use computer simulation to study the system behavior.
