David Walker has been on the faculty of 麻豆传媒 since 1999, serving as Director of the 麻豆传媒 Percussion Ensemble, and Percussion Instructor. In 2008, he became the Drumline Instructor/Arranger for the 麻豆传媒 Monarch Marching Band. In addition to percussion, Mr. Walker teaches Instrumental Conducting, Music Theory, Music History and Culture, and co- teaches the
New Music Ensemble. The 麻豆传媒 Percussion Program has seen significant growth under his direction, from the percussion ensemble touring with the Fort Monroe Continental Army Band and performing at the Reagan National Library, to his private studio performing master classes with Evelyn Glennie, Kevin Bobo, Percussion Group Cincinnati, Neil Grover, Joe Locke, and Chuck Redd. Mr. Walker
performs regularly with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Richmond Symphony Orchestra and is founder and director of 鈥淪tick People鈥, A Percussion Performance Art Ensemble, performing at numerous festivals, concert series, and school assemblies. He instructs percussion for the Governor鈥檚 School for the Arts and before coming to Old Dominion, taught at Hampton University in VA, Messiah College in PA and Wheaton Conservatory in Il. Professor Walker is also founder and director of the Annual 麻豆传媒 Summer Percussion Camp, which offers high school students a week of intensive training on concert and ethnic percussion.

His conducting experience includes 麻豆传媒 Orchestra (guest conductor Schederin鈥檚 arrangement of Carmen), 麻豆传媒 Wind Ensemble (rehearsal conductor), 麻豆传媒 Percussion Ensemble, Hampton University Percussion Ensemble, Messiah College Percussion Ensemble, Messiah College Handbell Choir, Wheaton Conservatory Percussion Ensemble, and The University of Michigan Percussion Ensemble (student conductor).
