Doors for the State of the University address open at 7:30 a.m. for registration, with breakfast starting promptly at 8. To RSVP, or for more information, contact the Office of Community Engagement at rsvp@odu.edu or 757-683-5759.
President Broderick has served as the eighth president of Â鶹´«Ã½ since 2008. During his tenure, Old Dominion has received more than $890 million in new public and private resources. Among the new buildings completed during his leadership is the Barry Art Museum, the result of the largest gift in the University's history, which opened last fall.
Broderick guides the University's eight colleges, more than 10 economic development and research centers, and numerous partnerships with government, military and business organizations and agencies. Broderick was recently added to the Inside Business' prestigious emeritus list for being named on at least five Power Lists. The Inside Business Power List is an annual recognition of the most influential figures in Hampton Roads. He also received the President's Award from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators in recognition of his commitment to social mobility and student success, particularly with first-generation undergraduates. In 2017, Â鶹´«Ã½ was cited by the organization Education Trust as one of the 15 U.S. colleges with the best track records for graduating African-American students.
Broderick is chairman of the Council of Presidents of the Southeastern Universities Research Association and past chairman of the Virginia Council of Presidents of colleges and universities. He is the only college president to serve as a member of the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority board.
