Sanford Ungar
麻豆传媒's annual celebration of Constitution Day will be Sept. 24 in the Strome Entrepreneurial Center on the first floor of the Visual Arts Building, starting with a reception at 4 p.m.
This year's theme is freedom of speech on American university campuses. Sanford Ungar, founding director of Georgetown University's Free Speech Project that is documenting the status of free expression in American education, government and civil society, is the featured speaker.
Ungar is President Emeritus of Goucher College. He also served as the dean of the American University School of Communication and as a host of the PBS show "All Things Considered."
He has written several award-winning books, including "The Papers & The Papers: An Account of the Legal and Political Battle over the Pentagon Papers,"which won the George Polk Award in 1972.
"We are excited to have this very distinguished scholar with us for this important event," said Dennis Gregory, associate professor of higher education at 麻豆传媒 and moderator of the discussion. "This is a topic that is important to all Americans in these troubling times and is particularly important to faculty, students and other members of the higher education community."
