Lifeguard Certification Courses (3-Day Courses)

Become a certified lifeguard! The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to help prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. This includes land and water rescue skills as well as first aid and CPR/AED. There are specific swim skill pre-requisites, so check those out on our website prior to signing up.

This course is an in-person three-day course at the Â鶹´«Ã½ Student Recreation & Well-Being Center in the JC Scrap Chandler Pool and Wet Classroom. Course time commitment includes Friday 5:30-9:30 p.m. for a swim skills pre-requisite test, and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. for the curriculum. Lifeguard Re-certification (1 Day Class)

If you are a certified lifeguard and it's time to renew your certification, the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Recertification Course is the course for you! This class will review the knowledge and skills needed to help prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies, including land and water rescue skills as well as first aid and CPR/AED.

Water Safety Instructor (5-Day Course)

Become a certified swim instructor! The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course, also known as WSI, trains candidates to teach water safety programs, including the Basic Water Rescue course, the six levels of the Learn to Swim program, and Parent and Child Aquatics. There are specific swim skill pre-requisites, so check those out on our website prior to signing up.

This course is 5 days long, spread over two weekends. You must attend all sessions to receive your certification.

Class dates include:

  • Course 1: February 14 from 5-8 p.m., February 15-16 and February 22-23 from Noon - 6 p.m. each day
  • Course 2: April 4 from 5-8 p.m., April 5-6 and April 12-13 from Noon - 6 p.m. each day
