The 2019 Institute on Teaching and Mentoring was held on October 24- 27 at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, Georgia. The Institute on Teaching and Mentoring is the largest gathering of underrepresented minority Ph.D. scholars in the country. The goal of the Institute is to provide a safe environment for doctoral scholars to share insights and survival tips for success in graduate work, build communities among themselves, enrich their research and teaching strategies, and give scholars the skills that will serve them in the profession of their choice. For the last 26 years, the Institute has provided workshops, recruitment and networking opportunities to enhance the professional development of the Ph.D. scholars.

Representatives from each college attended this years institute in a effort to recruit diverse faculty for open positions and to launch the "Excite the Dream". Over 100 scholars visited with recruiters and several recruiters volunteered to review curriculum vita and offer feedback to scholars. During the event, Â鶹´«Ã½ was recognized for its continued support of SREB.

The 2020 Institute on Teaching and Mentoring will be held on October 29 - November 1 in Tampa, Florida.
